Honors Program Application for New UW Students

Please complete the following application to be considered for the University of Wyoming Honors Program. The Honors Program is a unique set of opportunities for academically able and ambitious undergraduates. Those opportunities include innovative courses taught by award-winning faculty, special scholarships, off-campus study around the nation and the world, and more!

Freshman applicants must meet at least one of the following criteria: a composite ACT score of 28, or a combined verbal and quantitative SAT score of 1310, or a high school GPA of 3.7.

The program also welcomes new transfer students with an overall college GPA of 3.25.

Your application to the Honors Program will also serve as your application for one of the program’s many merit scholarships. Scholarships vary from one year awards or four years (8 semesters) that will automatically renew for students who maintain a minimum 3.25 GPA and remain in good standing in the Honors Program. Students will receive offers of Honors Admissions and Scholarships during the spring semester.

  1. Write a brief essay (250 words) that addresses your decision to become part of the Honors Program. What are the educational and personal benefits that prompted you to participate in the program? How will you contribute to its classes and community?
  2. Students in the College of Engineering & Applied Science can extend their honors experience by participating in the Engineering Honors program.

    This program combines the same opportunities already offered by the University Honors Program with additional coursework in Engineering Honors curriculum, Engineering Honors independent study, Engineering Honors scholarship, and Engineering Honors distinction upon graduation.
