Clifford C. Hach Memorial Scholarship

The scholarship honors the memory of Clifford C. Hach, who, together with his wife Kathryn Hach, founded the Hach Company in 1946. The company is headquartered in Loveland, Colorado. As a leading manufacturer of water analysis products, the Hach Company produces instruments, labware, and reagents used to monitor and test water in municipal water supplies as well as in a myriad of other industrial and agricultural applications.

The value of the scholarship is $6,000 per year, and may be renewed for four years, provided he or she maintains at least a 3.0 GPA and remains a chemistry major.

A complete application packet will include:

  1. Two letters of recommendation that attest to the applicant’s academic potential as a chemistry major.
  2. A high school transcript.
  3. ACT and/or SAT scores.
  4. A one page statement of the applicant’s career goals.

The scholarship recipient will be selected by the Chemistry Department Undergraduate Studies Committee on the basis of scholarship, character, cooperation, industry and the aspiration of the student to make a contribution to his or her chosen discipline. Recipients must be citizens of the United States, high school graduates from the United States, and enrolled as full-time students at the University. Recipients should have demonstrated high academic achievement through high school. Preference will be given to a student with a sincere desire to make a contribution to the betterment of mankind through a career in the chemical industry. Selection shall be made without regard to gender, color, race, creed or national origin.
