Myra Fox Skelton

The Casper-based Myra Fox Skelton Foundation funds a scholarship program for University of Wyoming at Casper students who are single parents. The generous gift from the Foundation to UW-Casper provides a monthly scholarship for the nine months of the academic year. The intent of the award is to help students reduce the number of hours they must work to support their education and families, and to increase the time they are able to devote to their families and studies. Recipients will agree to participate in a community service activity (a minimum of 15 hours of service required per semester) and submit written documentation of that community service at the end of both semesters.

Awards are made to selected single parent applicants who meet the Scholars Program criteria and demonstrate the promise of academic excellence.

The trustees of the Myra Fox Skelton Foundation make this gift to the University of Wyoming at Casper in order to make a difference in the lives of students and their academic endeavors. The generous scholarship provides an unprecedented opportunity to help students focus on learning and family life. A rigorous selection process will be conducted to find the students who best meet the following criteria.

Not only will students selected as Myra Fox Skelton Scholars receive a scholarship, but selection for the Scholars Program recognizes and honors the recipients’ academic promise. The selection process is careful and rigorous. The initial selection process will be based entirely on the written application materials explained; therefore, applicants should ensure that their application, supporting essay, and letters of reference are of the highest quality. Attention to both the quality of writing and the substance of information provided is essential. Individual interviews may be conducted after initial review of the application packet. Please note that your application materials will be seen by the selection committee as well as other authorized personnel in the UWC office._
