Winston S. Howard Distinguished Lecture Fund
Winston S. Howard attended the University of Wyoming and graduated from its law school with a Juris Doctor, cum laude, in 1930. Howard was a senior partner in Denver’s oldest law firm, Sherman and Howard, where he practiced law until his retirement in 1973. Between 1944 and 1946, he also served as a second lieutenant in the U.S Army Reserve and a lieutenant commander in the USNR. Winner of numerous professional and civic honors and awards, his interests spanned the fields of banking, real-estate development, farming, and educational and charitable activities. Among the last were his long-time association with the Swedish Medical Center, where he was chairman of the board and created and funded the Swedish Medical Center Nurse Scholarship Fund, and the Salvation Army, in which he served in leadership positions for more than 40 years.
