The Margaret C. "Peg" Tobin Excellence Award for Student Affairs

Margaret C. “Peg” Tobin (1920-2018) was the third child born to Peter J. and Margaret Tobin. She was raised primarily on the family ranch, near Midwest, WY. After graduating from Midwest Highschool, Peggy attended The University of Wyoming, receiving her bachelor’s degree in Business Education in 1942. Several years later she returned to UW and attained her master’s degree in Guidance and Counseling (1962). And then was delighted to be able to return, in 1964 as the new Dean of Women. In 1970, this role was renamed Associate Dean of Students. She would remain in this capacity until her retirement in 1986, giving her 22 years as part of the Office of Student Affairs. During those years, Peg actively supported student needs, discipline, and many activities. She promoted the role of the students and worked tirelessly as a professional within The Department of Student Affairs. These years also gave her opportunity to be recognized with many University and professionally oriented awards, including but not limited to: The UW Student Affairs Professional A ward, Grand Marshall of a Homecoming Parade and the 1997 University of Wyoming Medallion Award. The house (building) on the corner of Sorority Row and 15th Ave, on campus is now known as the Tobin House.
