SCOTT AND MARTHA HARRIS
Harris International Research Endowment
Scott A. Harris graduated from the University of Wyoming in 1970 with a degree in International Studies and went on to earn a Ph.D. Degree in Political Science from the University of Wisconsin-Madison. His professional career included acting as national security advisor to two United States Senate Majority leaders, direction of business operations in Europe for a major US corporation, teaching and policy analysis on national security and international affairs issues. He and wife Martha Harris met at the University of Wisconsin, where she also earned her Ph.D. Degree in Political Science. Throughout her professional career, she published, led studies and served as a senior State Department official responsible for national security issues. The two of them shared a belief that international study can broaden one’s experience and contribute to addressing global problems. With that in mind, they established the Harris International Research Endowment to encourage University of Wyoming students to pursue international studies with a focus on sustainable development and natural resources, including agriculture, policy and governance, and community development.
