Schuman Family President's Endowed Scholarship

Dr. Gerald E. “Jerry” Schuman is a Sheridan county, Wyoming native who schooled in Clearmont, Wyoming prior to receiving his bachelor’s degree in soil science from the University of Wyoming (UW) in 1966. Schuman worked for the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s Agricultural Research Service (ARS) from 1966-2005 and led a research program in mined land reclamation and soil and water conservation. He also was research leader and director of the High Plains Grasslands Research Station/Rangeland Resources Research Unit from 1976-1998. As an adjunct professor for UW, he mentored more than 34 graduate students and wrote more than 175 scientific publications. Jerry received the Outstanding Alumni Award from the UW College of Agriculture in 2000 and the Medallion Service Award UW Alumni Association in 2009.
