Martha and Gerry Wyrsch Student Enrichment Fund in Honors
Martha Wyrsch earned her BA in English from the University of Wyoming in 1980, where she participated in the newly formed UW Honors Program. While at UW, she was elected President of the Student Body, was an officer in the Tri Delta Sorority and was a member of Mortar Board and Spurs. She went on to earn a law degree from George Washington University and later graduated from Harvard University Business School’s Advanced Management Program. In 2005, Martha was named a Distinguished Alumni in the UW College of Arts and Sciences and in 2007 she was awarded the Distinguished Alumni Award from the University of Wyoming.
Gerry Wyrsch graduated from George Washington University with a BA in psychology and mass communications and earned a law degree from Denver University.
After graduating from the University of Wyoming, Martha served as a legislative assistant to US Senator Alan Simpson during his first term in office. She met her husband, Gerry, while working on Capitol Hill. Gerry worked as a senior legislative staffer to the US Senate Banking Committee at the time. The pair moved to Colorado where both practiced law, Gerry in banking and Martha in corporate and securities. Martha moved from law to business, and over the course of her career, she served as CEO for two large energy companies that were part of global enterprises, as well as Chief Legal Officer for three Fortune 500 energy companies. She now serves as a public company director in energy and financial services. Gerry recently retired after a long and successful career in law and banking.
Martha is deeply grateful for the broad and rich experiences she had at the University of Wyoming, particularly in the Honors College, and is delighted to help make those types of opportunities available for students enrolled in the Honors College at the University of Wyoming.
