Judith and Robert Savage Excellence Fund in Special Education

Judy is originally from Fort Morgan, Colorado and came to the University of Wyoming to study education, graduating in 1966. While in college, she met her husband, Bob, who was studying accounting. Following graduation, the couple lived in various areas across the country while Bob served in the Navy. The couple has two sons. When they arrived back in Colorado in 1972 following Bob’s service in the Navy, Judy was a long-term substitute for a teacher enrolled in a ten-week training in special education following the Education for All Handicapped Children Act taking effect. It was through that experience Judy was inspired to pursue training and a career in special education. She earned her master’s degree in special education at the University of Northern Colorado. The couple retired to Whidbey Island, Washington in 2001 from Torrington, Wyoming. They are passionate about the University of Wyoming and are very proud to have had a son and granddaughter receive their degrees from the University of Wyoming.
