Edwin A. (Tony) and Dorothy Dunn Scholarship in Chemical Engineering

After graduating from Rock Springs High School, Tony enrolled at the University of Wyoming in 1959. He was fortunate to receive a couple of scholarships to help pay for his education. He served on the Student Senate and was selected to Who’s Who in American College and Universities and received his Engineering degree in 1963. He worked for FMC Corporation in Green River Wyoming during the summers and then became a permanent employee. He started as a Junior Engineer and progressed through numerous positions in operations, technical, and management. He transferred to Chemical Headquarters in New York City, returned, moved to Kemmerer as Plant Manager, returned and then finished his career in Green River. Tony led the teams that designed, built, staffed and started up a sodium bicarbonate, sodium cyanide, caustic soda and the first ever soda ash plant using solution mined feed. He retired as surface plant manager. Tony was very appreciative of the scholarships he had received so he and Dorothy thought it was appropriate to pay forward to help struggling students trying to obtain an engineering degree.
