Conrad J. Kercher Animal Science Scholarship
Conrad J. “Connie” Kercher was raised on a ranch near Bridger, Montana. Connie served in the Navy and thereafter attended Montana State where he received a degree in Animal Husbandry. He received his masters and Ph.D. from Cornell University. Connie began his career as Assistant Professor of Animal Nutrition at University of Wyoming (UW) in 1954 and was then promoted to Professor. Connie taught animal nutrition courses and conducted research in nutrition. He served as acting UW Vice President for Academic Affairs and as Animal Science Department Head. Connie married the love of his life, Lydia (Zier) Kercher in 1946. Together they have four daughters, Kathryn Link, Nina Williams, Jane Kercher, and Kise Kercher, six grandchildren, and seven great-grandchildren. Connie passed away on January 22, 2020. In establishing this Fund, Connie and his family seek to provide scholarships for students enrolled in the Animal Science Department that meant so much to Connie.
