The Shaw Family Scholarship
$18,000 AWARD PAID OVER FOUR YEARS (This scholarship will be awarded every 4 years, not annually.)
Funding ($2,250 per semester) is for eight consecutive semesters, provided the recipient maintains a 2.5 cumulative grade point average while taking a minimum of 12 credit hours each semester.
Applicants must meet the following criteria:
- be a spring high school graduate
- be in the top one third of his/her graduating class
- obtain a minimum ACT composite score of 21 and/or minimum SAT composite score of 980
- reside in the Big Horn Basin area (Big Horn, Hot Springs, Park, and Washakie counties)
The Shaw Family Scholarship cannot be awarded to students receiving President’s Promise or Trustees’ Pride scholarships. Check with your principal or counselor to see if you are being considered for either of these awards.
Note: Applicants will be judged on the neatness, punctuation, and clarity of their responses to this application. Applicants should make sure all the necessary information and forms are completed and attached including: the completed scholarship application form, two (2) letters of recommendation (one from a member of your community and one from a teacher), a list of extra-curricular activities/awards and a brief statement as to why you want to attend the University of Wyoming. A copy of your current transcript must be included with application.
The UW Alumni Association Scholarship cannot be awarded to students receiving a Trustees’ Pride scholarship.
