Lyman and Margie McDonald Research Awards for Quantitative Analysis in Wildlife and Fisheries Ecology

Awards from this opportunity are for the Spring 2021 semester.

Scholarship support for graduate students enrolled in the Department of Statistics and/or Department of Zoology and Physiology at UW. These scholarships are intended to promote and enhance quantitative research in wildlife and/or fisheries ecology and preferably to provide summer research support (e.g., research related expenses and summer stipend).

To be eligible for this scholarship students must submit a brief application which shall include:

  • planned research including statistical analysis approaches to be developed or implemented
  • student’s curriculum vitae
  • endorsement of the proposed research and the applicant by the chair of the student’s graduate committee

  1. These awards are intended to promote and enhance quantitative research in wildlife and/or fisheries ecology. Preference will be given to applicants who are actively engaged in both the Departments of Zoology & Physiology and Mathematics & Statistics and who are actively developing or adapting new statistical approaches for wildlife/fisheries issues.

    To apply, submit a single .pdf file that includes:

    (a) 2-page NSF GRFP-style research proposal describing planned research including statistical analysis approaches to be developed or implemented and a budget section with an itemized list of proposed expenditures and justification (funds may be used for research expenses and summer stipend).

    (b) 1-page CV that clearly lists name and contact information for your research advisor.
