Edward and Susan King Lloyd Graduate Research Award

Funds should be used to support graduate student research efforts. Examples of appropriate uses include, but are not limited to, summer salary support to supplement a nine-month graduate assistantship, travel, purchase of equipment, data sets or other items required by the recipient’s research project, and funds to allow the recipient to present their research at regional or national meetings. The award(s) created by this endowment will follow the usual rules and regulations governing graduate student awards within the College of Agriculture at the University of Wyoming.

Recipients of the Edward H. ‘Ted’ and Susan King Lloyd Graduate Research Award shall be selected by a committee designated by the head of the Department of Plant Sciences or his/her designee. The Selection Committee should consider scientific merit, need, and existing support from the student’s primary faculty advisor or the department in choosing a recipient(s). While selection of the recipient is at the discretion of the Selection Committee, the committee should also consider the DONORS long-term goal to encourage students to pursue careers in research, extension, or industry after graduation and to enhance the student’s capability to create private business ventures that will enhance the nation’s agriculture industry and maintain a safe and sufficient food supply. Students are only eligible to receive this award once. The amount of the award(s) should be in keeping with the donor’s intent of providing a meaningful level of support for the recipient.
